On 17 May, the Foreign Trade Association (FTA) will host its upcoming FTA Connect event 'Transparency and Sustainability in a Time of Increased Protectionism' in London.
Following the UK's recent signing of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, negotiations have formally been launched to leave the European Union. This withdrawal sends an important message to Europe, in a period characterised by increasing protectionist tendencies. At the same time, the recently adopted UK Modern Slavery Act falls in line with a movement observed in other EU and non-EU countries for more transparency on human rights conditions across global supply chains.
During this event, FTA will provide participants with the opportunity to:
- Receive a better understanding of transparency and due diligence: What are the risks and opportunities for companies?
- Get a concrete insight on the implications of the Brexit, and how the FTA supports its members.
- Get trained on how to address the Modern Slavery Act requirements in your company, as well as get an introduction to FTA’s tools, incl. the BSCI Platform, the FTA Academy and the FTA Sustainability Intelligence Dashboards [afternoon session for FTA members only].

Following the open session from 09:30 - 12:00, a networking lunch will be provided for all participants. The afternoon session is exclusively reserved for FTA members for a practical workshop on FTA tools.
